New Interview by Krista Scott-Dixon is now Live!
A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of chatting with Krista Scott-Dixon on Skype for more than an hour for an interview she did on me for her site www.stumptuous.com (which, by the way is a wicked site for women who love to lift).
Krista was one of my idols when it came to strong and smart women and so it was an honor to speak with her that day.
Through this conversation we also are brainstorming to develop a seminar this year just for women all about lifting heavy, thinking smart and knowing more about what makes us awesome as a gender. Stay posted for news on that one, because we're looking at this summer to make it happen!
To hear the interview and hear our thoughts on lifting while pregnant, my book, The New Rules of Lifting for Women, and disordered eating in women, click here.
Thanks Krista!

I just listened to it this afternoon and really enjoyed it - I appreciate your honesty about your own eating/exercising history - it is enlightening to hear that you have had your struggles. Just like you discussed on the podcast, I tend to assume that the healthy lifestyle comes easily to trainers and other professionals! Good luck with your last few weeks of pregnancy, hope all goes well for you and the baby!
I LOVE the book! I LOVE lifting heavy -- although I am new to it. I am 6'3" and have lost over 160 pounds so far.
I will check out that link you posted!
I enjoyed the podcast very much. It was great to hear 2 women talk about lifting and how great it is. I did the NROLW program and loved it.
I hope your pregnancy continues smoothly and have an easy delivery!
Thank you Ladies! I'm so glad you enjoyed the book and the podcast! I hope krista and I can do this more often. It was fun to lay it all out there!
I just had my second baby three weeks ago. I trained for labor and delivery like it was an event. The idea that a Dr would want someone to lay around before having a baby is like telling someone to train for the ironman by wathing TV and eating ice cream for 10 months. You are going to have a great delivery and very quick recovery time. Your story resonated with me deeply. Thank you for your honesty!
Just finished the podcast -- great discussion on everything from overmedication to food quality and being able to listen to your body! I share a lot of the same sentiments and have been lifting for 2 years now.
Especially as I graduate this spring and look for a medical illustration position, I'll be aware of looking for work that honestly and authentically portrays good health information. (know of any health/exercise physiology centers looking for an illustrator?)
Meredith: You are absolutely correct - labour is no picnic.... I'm not sure why doctors think you can do nothing to prepare for it. Oh wait... I know why... most of them are MEN. :)
Michelle: Thanks! Sorry, I'm not aware of any jobs in that field, but then again, I can barely find a great job myself lately! LOL! Good luck!
The podcast was great and now I can't wait to get the book! I have recently started strength training - again - and am glad to have found some interesting, strong and viable sources for info. I would really like to see your seminar happen, any idea on where it would be held?
Hi Janell!
The seminar is most likely going to be in June or July and probably in Toronto CA or somewhere here in the US. We're still working on the details. Any suggestions for a date/place?
